Most men think about haircuts, shaving, and skincare. Ear cleaning rarely makes the list. It should.
The ear canal naturally produces cerumen as a self-cleaning mechanism. In most people, this works fine on its own. But wax accumulates, hardens, and causes problems: muffled hearing, a sense of fullness, mild discomfort, and in persistent cases, tinnitus.
Cotton buds make it worse
The instinct is to reach for a cotton bud. The problem: cotton buds push wax deeper rather than extracting it. Over time, this compacts the wax against the eardrum and makes professional removal harder. If you’re using them regularly, stop.
What a professional clean involves
At Care 22, we use specialist tools: fine curettes, a lighted scope, and gentle irrigation where needed. The process takes around 20 to 30 minutes and is largely relaxing. Most clients fall asleep.
The result is immediate: clearer hearing, a sense of lightness, and the absence of a low-grade blockage you may not have realised was there.
How often
For most men, once every two to three months is sufficient. If you travel frequently or spend time in humid environments like Bangkok, more often makes sense. Humidity accelerates wax production.
It is a small appointment. The difference it makes is not.
