Search “best head spa in Bangkok” and you’ll get a long list of places that all promise the same thing: a relaxing hour and a clean scalp. Some deliver a genuine scalp treatment. Others sell a hair wash with a nicer name. Here’s how to tell the difference before you spend your money — whichever place you choose.
1. Check what’s actually included
A proper head spa is a sequence, not a single step. Before you book, look for a clear list of what happens during the session. At a minimum you should see:
- A head and scalp massage — slow, deliberate pressure, ideally with oil, to loosen tension before anything else starts.
- Neck and shoulder work — that’s where most of the tension sits; a head spa that ignores it feels unfinished.
- A deep cleanse — more than one wash, to lift sebum, sweat and product buildup.
- A scalp or hair treatment — conditioning that’s worked in and left to absorb.
- A water step — the part that separates a head spa from a shampoo. It may be called water therapy, a water halo or a water ring, but warm, flowing water over the scalp is the heart of the treatment.
- A proper finish — a blow-dry, so you can walk straight back into your day.
If a menu only says “head spa — 60 minutes” with no detail, ask what you get. A good place will tell you step by step.
2. Know what a fair price looks like
Prices in Bangkok vary more than for almost any other treatment. Premium and hotel head spas often charge 1,500–3,500 ฿ for an hour; neighbourhood salons can be much cheaper but shorter or simpler. Our head spa cost guide breaks the tiers down.
The useful question isn’t “what’s cheapest?” but “what do I get for the price?” Compare the number of steps and the real treatment time — not the total time including waiting and changing.
3. Look at the reviews, not just the stars
A high rating means little without volume and detail. Read the recent reviews: do people mention the scalp feeling different afterwards? Do they mention the staff by name, the cleanliness, being on time? Reviews that describe the actual treatment are worth more than a row of five-star “nice place” comments.
4. Check the space
You’ll spend an hour lying back with your eyes closed, so the room matters. Look for photos of real treatment rooms, not stock images. Is it quiet? Is it clean? If you’re coming as a couple or a group, or you prefer more privacy, ask whether there are private rooms.
5. Think about location and timing
The best head spa is one you’ll actually go back to. If you live or stay around Sukhumvit, a place near BTS Asok or Phrom Phong fits into an afternoon far more easily than one across the city. Check the opening hours too — evening slots are the first to go.
Red flags
- No list of steps, or vague wording like “head treatment”.
- Prices that change once you’re in the chair.
- A “head spa” that turns out to be a 15-minute wash and a quick massage.
- Pressure to buy add-ons or courses before you’ve even tried the treatment.
How Care 22 does it
We built our Head Spa around that checklist. It’s a full 60 minutes: welcome drink, aromatherapy head massage, neck and shoulder massage, a double deep-cleansing wash, a hair and scalp treatment, our signature Water Halo therapy, a blow-dry, then hot tea and a snack. One clear price — 799 ฿ (usually 999 ฿) — and nothing upsold on the day.
If you’re comparing places, come and see for yourself: Care 22, our head spa in Bangkok on Sukhumvit Soi 22, is a short walk from BTS Asok and Phrom Phong. Check the full menu and prices, or book your session.
